Changamwe Constituency
Changamwe Constituency, located in Mombasa County, Kenya, is a vibrant and historically significant area. It was one of the original constituencies in the Mombasa district before the 2010 constitutional changes, which led to the creation of additional constituencies like Jomvu and Nyali.
Changamwe is a dynamic and significant urban area. Known for its strategic importance, it houses key infrastructure such as the Moi International Airport and the Port of Mombasa, which are vital to Kenya's economy and global trade connections. The constituency is divided into five wards: Airport, Chaani, Kipevu, Changamwe, and Port Reitz, each contributing to its vibrant socio-economic and cultural landscape.
The current Member of Parliament for Changamwe is Hon. Omar Mwinyi Shimbwa, who represents the constituency in the National Assembly.
NG-CDF is a major driving force that has enabled Wananchi to participate in the devolved units as per the current constitution. The people have participated in the formulation and implementation of development programs focusing on economic empowerment and enhancement of living standards. Transparency and accountability are the clarion calls in the allocation and utilization of public development finances.
The developmental agenda of the constituency is spearheaded by the Changamwe National Government Constituency Development Fund Committee (NG-CDFC). A Fund Account Manager, who is an officer of the NG-CDF Board and seconded to the constituency, coordinates the activities of the Constituency Committees and also serves as an ex-officio member of the NG-CDFC. The committee focuses on ensuring equitable distribution of resources and implementing development initiatives for the benefit of all constituents.

Education remains a top priority in Changamwe, receiving a significant portion of the NG-CDF allocation to enhance both primary and secondary school infrastructure and support students through bursary programs.

• Classroom Construction and Renovation: Expanding learning spaces to accommodate the growing student population.
• School Infrastructure: Construction of administration blocks, laboratories, perimeter walls for security, and social halls to foster community engagement.
• Purchase of School Buses: Supporting student transport and co-curricular activities.
• Teacher Housing and Boarding Facilities: Improving staff accommodation and student dormitories for a better learning environment.
Changamwe Constituency also prioritizes other infrastructural projects to improve the quality of life for its residents.
Key projects include:

• Water Supply & Sanitation: Expanding access to clean water and improving sanitation in schools and public spaces.
• Security Enhancements: Construction of police stations, chiefs' offices, and security installations to ensure a safe environment for all residents.
Environmental sustainability is a major focus, with efforts in:
• Garbage and Water Disposal: Sensitization programs on proper waste management.
• Water Harvesting: Installation of rainwater collection systems in schools.
• Tree Planting: Promoting afforestation efforts to combat climate change.
• Toilet Construction: Upgrading sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools.
Sports play a vital role in youth engagement and community development. Previously, the constituency allocated funds to:
• Support local sports tournaments.
